Each year, Forai walks alongside 8-12 refugee and immigrant women on the artisan/artisan-admin team and 20-30 women participating in community sewing classes.

Forai works to foster dignity and help these women’s stories be heard. We help empower them economically with income earned from their work. And Forai creates a community, a space where women from different backgrounds and cultures mutually give and receive.

Most women arrive at our workshop while living below the poverty line with almost no English. Proceeds from the sale of partner products and donations help us onboard new women into our empowerment program.Learn more here.

In June of 2025 we opened a retail store in Kirkwood, Missouri, with the aim of introducing more people to the artisans and work of Forai, creating more empowerment opportunities for Forai Artisans, and partnering with other purpose-driven brands.  This has allowed us to begin selling products made by other like-minded organizations working to combat poverty and make an impact for good in the world.  We are thrilled to now offer a selection of these products from our partner brands online as well.

Every purchase of Forai artisan-made jewelry and textiles provides a fair wage and ongoing empowerment for refugee and immigrant women resettled in St. Louis. And every purchase from our partner brands empowers people across the US and Globe lifting themselves out of poverty, overcoming domestic violence, addiction or trafficking, and furthering traditional and sustainable craftsmanship.
